
Dr. Maryellen Romano has been practicing gynecology for over
twenty years. She completed her undergraduate training from
Wagner College in 1975 and received her medical degree from
New York Medical College in 1979. After completing her
internship and residency in OB-GYN at St. Vincent's Hospital
and Medical Center in Manhattan Dr. Romano returned to
Staten Island to enter private practice. Dr. Romano was
board certified in OB-GYN in 1987 and recertified in 1996.
She also returned to Wagner College and was granted an MBA
in 1998.
Dr. Romano was asked to serve as Director of The Center for
Woman's Health at Staten Island University Hospital in 1997.
There she was able to successfully combine a
multidisciplinary model of health services under one roof.
Realizing that she missed hands on medicine and in order to
increase her availability to her patients, Dr. Romano
decided to return to solo practice in 2003.
Dr. Romano is a member of a number of professional societies
including the American Board of OB-GYN, the American College
of OB-GYN, the American Society for Laser Medicine and
Surgery , the Richmond County Medical Society, and the North
American Menopause Society. She serves as an executive board
member of The Staten Island Children's Campaign.
Dr. Romano is a native Staten Islander and lives on Staten Island with her husband and two sons
