I am pleased to be able to offer my patients an advanced treatment for long term hair removal, the Apogee Elite Laser System.

How does it work?
Laser systems work by emitting a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle. The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs energy from the laser transforms it into heat. The heat disables the hair follicle and slows the growth of hair. The Apogee Elite delivers energy to the skin in pulses, through an actively cooled hand piece. As a result, the top layer of skin, the epidermis, is not overheated and this reduces the discomfort usually associated with laser therapy. The end result is the destruction and restriction of re-growth of hair.

Is it painful?
This varies from person to person. Certain areas of the body are more sensitive to the laser. Most patients describe a tingling or stinging sensation during therapy. Under my supervision, a local topical anesthetic can be applied to the treatment area to decrease the discomfort.

What areas can be treated?
Apogee Elite Laser can eliminate hair from just about anywhere on the body. The only area I do not recommend using laser on is under the eyebrow.

How many treatments are required?
The Apogee Elite Laser works by disrupting hairs that are in the active phase of growth as the time of the treatment. Treatments are given every four weeks and most areas need six sessions to achieve optimal results.

What happens after treatment?
Within several minutes the treated area may become slightly red and puffy. This reaction subsides within a day or two. You may apply make up immediately and return to work or regular activities.

Who is a good candidate for laser hair removal?
All patients contemplating laser therapy will have a consultation with me prior to the therapy. A skin analysis will be done and I will determine if there are any factors that would not allow optimal treatment results. The best candidates for the Apogee Elite Laser should not be significantly tanned at the time of the procedure. Tanning should also be avoided for three to four weeks after treatment.

What is the cost of the treatment?
